The samples which were got from multi-stage sampling consisted of 600 students at high vocational certificate level in both private and government vocational schools in Bangkok Metropolis on first semester of 2004 academic year. The Likert scale-based questionnaire of which a content validity had been undergone by three specialists was used for data collection. The
Cronbach’s alpha coefficient showed that reliability was between 0.725 and 0.903. Those data were analyzed through SPSS program to find out percentage of frequency, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and discriminant analysis. The results of the research showed that:
1) Most samples decided to further their
studies at private university (82.9%) while 14 % of them were not sure whether to further their studies or not. It is also found that 3.1 % of them
decided not to further their studies. In terms of
curriculum. 76.8 % of them paid attention to a regular program, and 15.9 % of them felt interested in a weekend program. However, a night class program was of their interest the least
(7.3%). The most interesting branch of study for the samples was business administration (38.6%) while the second and the third were accounting (24.7%) and business computer (11.8%). Moreover, tourism and hotel was rated the fourth (11.1%)
2) Factors affecting the decision making on continuing their studies at private university at the .05 significant level were cumulative grade point average, parents’ occupation, parents educational level, parents’ income, opportunity, honors, curriculum or branch, faculty staff, buildings and facilities, as well as personal research. Some factors that did not affect their decision at the .05 significant level were sex, number of brothers and sisters, and external drive.
3) Categorical equations got from standard Canonical coefficient of the decision on continuing their studies at private university were shown as follows:
Z1 = -.236zgPA + .400ZOCC_F + .323ZOCC_M + .006ZEDU_F + .163ZEDU_M

Certificate students namely deciding to study, deciding not to study, and being unsure of continuing their studies at private university were as follows:
