Abstract: This study explores the integration of innovation in online education, emphasizing its transformative potential and associated challenges. It provides a comprehensive historical perspective and theoretical foundation, examining the historical development of innovation in online learning and key technologies like machine learning and personalized learning systems. The theoretical foundations of innovation are categorized into narrow and general innovation, offering a nuanced understanding of its application in education. Utilizing bibliometric analysis of Scopus data from 2006 to 2024, the research identifies influential publications, emerging trends, and collaborative networks within the field. The findings underscore the necessity for a balanced approach that merges technological advancements with pedagogical principles to enhance personalized learning, provide timely feedback, and improve student support. This balanced integration is crucial for maximizing the effectiveness of innovative technologies in educational settings. The study also highlights the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration among educators, computer scientists, and psychologists to design effective, innovation-driven solutions that align with educational goals. It concludes with practical recommendations for future research and applications, aiming to enhance the overall effectiveness and inclusivity of online education. These insights aim to inform policy, guide educational practices, and foster an environment where innovation can thrive and contribute to more effective, inclusive online learning experiences.
