การวิเคราะห์เชิงจำแนกสถานภาพของนักศึกษาปีแรกมหาวิทยาลัยกรุงเทพ

Abstract

วัตถุประสงค์ของการวิจัย เพื่อศึกษา เปรียบเทียบ และพัฒนาสมการจำแนกประเภทสำหรับใช้ในการทำนายสถานภาพนักศึกษา 4 กลุ่มคือ กลุ่มสังคมศาสตร์ กลุ่มวิทยาศาสตร์ กลุ่มศิลปกรรม และ กลุ่มต่อเนื่อง ตัวอย่างที่นำมาวิเคราะห์คือ นักศึกษาชั้นปีแรกปีการศึกษา 2539 จำนวน 3,067 คนจากประชากร 6,015 คน สถิติที่ใช้คือ การวิเคราะห์จำแนกประเภท ผลการศึกษาและตรวจสอบตัวแปร พบว่า ตัวแปรที่มีประโยชน์ในการใช้ประกอบการพิจารณาคัดเลือกนักศึกษาใหม่ เพื่อทำให้นักศึกษาสถานภาพรีไทร์มีจำนวนน้อยกว่าเดิม คือ เพศ อายุ สถานภาพสมรส วุฒิบัตรจากโรงเรียนเดิม สาขามี่เรียนในระดับมัธยมและประเภทของโรงเรียนเดิม ผลการเปรียบเทียบตัวแปร พบว่า ตัวแปรที่มีอิทธิพลต่อการจำแนกสถานภาพนักศึกษาทุกกลุ่มคือ คะแนนเฉลี่ยในภาคแรก สำหรับคะแนนเฉลี่ยจากโรงเรียนเดิม และคะแนนสอบคัดเลือกมีอิทธิภาพต่อการจำแนกสถานภาพนักศึกษาเพียงสามกลุ่ม คือ กลุ่มสังคมศาสตร์ กลุ่มวิทยาศาสตร์ และกลุ่มต่อเนื่อง แต่ไม่มีอิทธิพลต่อการจำแนกสถานภาพนักศึกษากลุ่มศิลปกรรม ตัวแปรนอกนั้นมีอิทธิพลต่อการจำแนกสถานภาพนักศึกษาในลำดับที่แตกต่างกันออกไป ผลการศึกษาความสำคัญของตัวแปรปรากฏว่า ตัวแปรที่มีความสำคัญมากที่สุด ซึ่งมีอิทธิพลต่อการจำแนกสถานภาพนักศึกษาคือ คะแนนเฉลี่ยในภาคที่หนึ่ง คะแนนสอบคัดเลือก และคะแนนเฉลี่ยจากโรงเรียนเดิม ตามลำดับ โดยตัวแปรสามตัวนี้รวมกับตัวแปรอื่น ๆ สามารถทำนายผลการจำแนกสถานภาพนักศึกษาตอนสิ้นปีการศึกษาให้ถูกต้องคิดเป็นร้อยละดังนี้ กลุ่มสังคมศาสตร์ : 93.41% กลุ่มวิทยาศาสตร์ : 89.94% กลุ่มศิลปกรรม : 94.95% กลุ่มการศึกษา ต่อเนื่อง : 93.10% ข้อเสนอแนะที่สำคัญ คือ การเพิ่มคุณภาพของข้อสอบคัดเลือกวิชาความถนัดทางศิลป์ วิชาความรู้ทั่วไป และวิชาเฉพาะสำหรับนักศึกษาสายวิทยาศาสตร์ นอกจากนี้ค่าสถิติที่ได้จากการวิจัยสามารถนำไปใช้เป็นข้อมูลประกอบการพัฒนาโปรแกรมคอมพิวเตอร์ เพื่อใช้ในการทำนายการจำแนกสถานภาพนักศึกษาตอนสิ้นปีแก่นักศึกษารุ่นต่อ ๆ ไปได้

The purpose of the study was to compare and develop the equation of categorization employed to predict student' s status in the following four groups: social science, science, fine arts, and continuing program. The sample of 3,067 first year students, academic year 1996 were selected for study from the population of 6,015 students. The statistical data analysis was the Discriminant Analysis. The results of the examination of the variables indicated that the critical variables employed to help recruit new students were sex, age, marital status, certificate from the previous school, field of study in Matayom level, and type of the previous school so that the number of new students being dismissed for academic inability can be reduced. The results of the importance of variables revealed that the most important variables which affected the categorization of students’ status were the grade point average of the first semester, the entrance exam scores, and the grade point average from the previous school, respectively. These three variables associated with other variables could predict the results of the categorization of students’ status at the end of the academic year accurately by percentage as follows: Social Science: 93.41% Science: 89.94% Fine arts: 94.95% Continuing program: 93.105 Important recommendations are to upgrade the entrance exam in subjects concerning art skill. General knowledge, and knowledge in the specific fields of science students. In addition, the statistical data obtained from this study can be used to develop the computer programs which can predict the categorization of students’ status at the end of the academic year for all new in-coming students.
